Musée Edith Piaf, Paris
Get a glimpse into La Vie en Rose at the Paris museum devoted to Edith Piaf
Life was not always so rosy for "the little sparrow," née Edith Gassion in 1915. She spent her teen years torch singing in cafes before breaking big in the late 1930s.
This teensy apartment in her native working-class neighborhood, jammed with memorabilia collected by her biggest fan club, is open only by appointment, so call ahead to get the door buzzer code—and request they spin a few rare discs for you while you're there.
Though technically free, this is one of those "voluntary donations" sights, so be ready with a Euro or two for the tour.
