The old standby
The moderately-priced Hotel de' Lanzi in Florence, Italy
Extremely comfortable hotel in the pedestrian zone with window-filling vistas of the Duomo, which lies just a half a block away—but only if you book a room on the front. It's quite a sight quieter than its sister hotel, the Chiari Bigallo, which is directly across from the Duomo facade and Giotto's Belltower (fantastic location, but incredibly noisy with all the people milling about beneath your window).
The De' Lanzi has cozy roms and quilts embroidered with antique Florentine patterns for style. There's also a great breakfast buffet. It's a popular place, though prices have been creeping up a bit in recent years.
Via delle Oche 11, off Via de' Calzaiuoli, around the corner from the Duomo
