Restaurants in Foggia

Where to eat in Foggia

Cicolella
I don't usually recommend hotel restaurants, but Cicolella's stands apart not as both the best dining in town—and pretty reasonable—and a regional yardstick by which classic Pugliese cuisine is measured. Come for a refined meal of peasant dishes and traditional flavors. Kick it off with pancotto rucola e patate (bread lightly boiled then baked with arugula and potatoes, topped with pepperoncino-spiked olive oil). Or try pureè di fave con cicoria or the aldente cavatelli neri con ricotta dura (an ancient recipe whose pasta is made with slightly burnt flour—giving it a gray cast—under a sauce of tomatoes and dried ewe's milk ricotta). Straccetti con rucola (tender beef strips on a bed of chopped arugula) and agnello al forno con patate (roast mutton and potatoes) are equally scrumptious main courses.
