The Burren, Co. Clare, Ireland
Now nearly forgotten, roofless little Carron Church (c. 1200) was once the seat of the largest parish in The Burren, and its burial ground has creeped inside the nave—actually, the burials here were always intriguing; behind the church sat an ancient cairn, or buiral mound, which gave the church its name, and even during the Chrsitian era, coffins were carried in a procession that woudl circle around this cairn before being brought into the cemetery and buried. Co. Clare, Ireland.
