Hotel Lanzillotta ★

A great hotel in Alberobello, Apulia

Opened 100 years ago by the current owner's grandfather, the Lanzillotta is an old central favorite with a great restaurant (reviewed seperately).

Though renovated and comfortable, it remains at heart an old-fashioned pensione at reasonable prices. Rooms vary between the high vaulted ceilings of the original 19th-century palazzo (with baths jerry-rigged into the corners) and the slightly larger accommodations of the top two floors tacked on in the 1960s.

Furnishings are basic, beds comfy enough, baths a little rickety, and while being around the corner from the main piazza is convenient, it can also stay noisy a bit too late for comfort.

The attached La Dolce Vita restaurant serves exquisitely prepared Pugliese fare made of the freshest ingredients.
