The highest prices on rooms in Amalfi are applied during the high season, which in Amalfi usually runs June through September.

Many hotels close for at last part of the winter low season. January and February are the most popular months to shut down, though some close in October or November and don't reopen until Easter (or at least sometime between March and May).

Residenza del Duca

This tiny inn of six rooms (plus one apartment) in a thousand-year-old palazzo gets two stars for being central (in the tangle of streets just across from the cathedral), sumptuously furnished (gilded scrollwork on the bed frames, richly upholstered antique-repro sofas and chairs, modest chandeliers), and yet—and this is what gets it the second star—it charges laughably low rates.
