As beloved as B&Bs are to the rest of Ireland, Dublin curiously has fewer than you'd expect—perhaps replaced in the city context by the category of "guesthouse," a small hotel-like operation.

There are only about 100 B&Bs in all of County Dublin (compared to, say, more than 300 in County Kerry). Fewer than 70 of these are within the city of Dublin itself, and most of those are in the outer neighborhoods.

That doesn't mean there are a dozen or so choices in nearly central areas like Ballsbridge, less than 8 mintues by DART from downtown, and even a handful in the city center, such as Baggot Court Townhouse, between St. Stephens Green and the Grand Canal, where rooms start at €53.

You can find the lenghtiest lists of Dublin B&Bs at the official tourism sites Visitdublin.com and Discoverireland.com, or peruse more select lists—along with helpful user reviews—at the booking sites of Venere.com and Booking.com.
