Kachanaburi, the Bridge over the River Kwai, and Erawan Falls National Park
Find a riverside guesthouse in Kachanaburi. The river in question would be the Kwai, and in addition to visiting the infamous bridge and related WWII sights (a museum and Allied cemetery). Down the road a ways is Erawan Falls National Park, where you can hike and swim in the pools of a mile-and-a-quarter-long waterfall.
